Finding Your Next Favorite Film with AI

We’ve all been there: scrolling endlessly through streaming apps, trying to decide what to watch. Traditional recommendation systems often fall short, suggesting only what’s popular or similar by genre. That’s why I built my own AI-powered movie recommendation website — designed to go deeper.

How It Works

Instead of relying only on genre tags or ratings, my site uses AI to look at the things that actually make a movie memorable:
• Director and style
• Lead actors and performances
• Story-line and tone
• Historical or cultural setting

When you enter a favorite movie, It analyzes why you liked it and finds titles with the same creative DNA.

Smarter Than “Because You Watched…”

Streaming services are good at “if you liked this, here’s something in the same category.” But that often leads to repetitive or shallow results. My approach is more like having a movie buff friend who knows your taste and digs into the details.

Why It Matters

Movies are about more than entertainment — they’re experiences. By using AI, the goal is to surface recommendations that feel fresh, thoughtful, and personal. Whether you’re into sci-fi with strong character arcs, historical dramas with rich world-building, or light comedies with the same sense of humor, the AI helps uncover hidden gems you might otherwise miss.

The Bigger Picture

For me, this project is also about exploring how AI can make everyday choices easier. Just like it can help troubleshoot IT issues or summarize notes, it can also bring more enjoyment to something as simple as movie night.

SimplePad AI — A Smarter Simple Way to Take Notes

A SimplePad AI is a lightweight, portable notepad with intelligence built in.

Clean and Simple by Design

At its core, SimplePad AI is a distraction-free notepad. You can open it, jot down thoughts, edit, and save without being buried in menus or options. It’s designed to run anywhere, without complex installs or heavy system requirements.

Smarter With AI

What makes it different is the AI assistant that works alongside your writing:
• Summarizes long notes into clear, digestible points.
• Suggests quick replies for emails and messages.
• Analyzes tone and clarity so your writing lands the way you intend.

Instead of switching between apps, you get insights right where you’re typing.

Smarter Windows Event Viewer with AI

In IT, the foundation of effective troubleshooting is having enough and accurate data. Without clarity in logs, even the most experienced engineer ends up guessing. That’s why I built a custom Windows Event Viewer app — designed not just to display logs, but to help interpret them.

Key Features
• Clean, modern interface with quick filters (channel, level, date range).
• Visual charts to spot trends at a glance.
• Color-coded event table with fast search and Event ID lookup.
• Export options for collaboration.
• AI integration that:
• Summarizes events in plain English.
• Suggests probable causes and fixes.
• Highlights anomalies and recurring patterns.

Why It Matters

Accurate data leads to faster, better decisions. With AI built in, my app transforms raw event logs into actionable insights — reducing downtime, improving response time, and making troubleshooting a proactive process instead of reactive firefighting.

Tech Stack
• Python + PyQt/PySide for the UI.
• pywin32 for direct log access.
• Matplotlib for visualizations.
• AI assistant for intelligent analysis.

As IT leaders, our role is not just to solve problems but to empower our teams with the right tools and the right data. This project is one step toward smarter, data-driven troubleshooting.

The Rising Cost of a Data Breach in 2025

The financial impact of data breaches remains a major concern for organizations worldwide. According to IBM’s 2025 Cost of a Data Breach Report (conducted by Ponemon Institute), the global average cost of a breach has dropped 9% to $4.44 million — the first decline in five years. Faster detection, containment, and the use of AI-driven security tools contributed to this reduction.

Key insights from the report:
• Healthcare is still the most expensive sector, averaging $7.42 million per breach, even after a $2.35 million drop from 2024.
• Phishing (16%) and supply chain compromise (15%) are now the top root causes of breaches.
• The U.S. saw an increase, with costs climbing to $10.22 million, while the Middle East ($7.29M), Canada ($4.84M), and the UK ($4.14M) remain among the hardest hit regions.
• Reputational damage often exceeds direct costs, with customer trust and market share losses being long-lasting.
• Downtime adds millions in operational costs, especially for manufacturing and critical infrastructure.
• Regulatory fines and litigation drive costs higher in heavily regulated industries like healthcare and financial services.
• Cyber insurance helps but rarely covers all costs; premiums often increase sharply after incidents.
• The cybersecurity skills gap adds an average of $1.57 million to breach costs when organizations lack in-house expertise.
• Organizations using AI and automation for threat detection and response saved an average of $2.22 million per breach.

Ultimately, the report highlights that preparedness and resilience are critical. Building a culture of fast incident response, transparency, and customer trust can significantly reduce the long-term financial and reputational damage of a breach.
